  1. Dear Chris,

I’ve been listening to your podcasts for some weeks now. You make getting to know the Bible a smooth journey that is so much more accessible than I thought it would be. I’m having one of those days that you mention in this podcast! But I wanted to say before now, thank you for your uploads, the time you take to put everything together & the friendliness with which you deliver each chapter.

    Kind Regards,

    Safi

  2. I concur with Safi’s feeling in your podcasts, and although its several months later, I hope you have a good and fulfilling day today!

  3. I still do not understand why Jesus felt it necessary to be baptized? Also is there any special significance to God’s choice of words: “Well pleased?”

    1. I don’t know for sure, but I do think of Paul in Corinthians talking about us being baptized with him into his death.

  4. Greetings Chris,
In this episode and in day 1 of Matthew you made statements that were new thoughts to me.
Today the thought was that John the Baptist may not have known that it was Jesus, his cousin, that he was telling the people to prepare for. In otherwords, he was just proclaiming “prepare” because he was following God’s prompting like the prophets of the OT. Perhaps he was just as surprised when Jesus was revealed as everyone else. Interesting.
In Matt 1 you mentioned that it was possible that the marriage of Joseph and Mary may have been arranged and not one out of a dating relationship rooted in love. another concept I had never considered. That may have made it easier for him to not go into rage of betrayal and was therefore more willing to divorce her quietly. It may also explain why we almost never here of Joseph after they return from Egypt.
