The idea that because we are in a democracy, when the government gives, we give. This is false. Our government takes by force. The proceeds can not be converted to charity. In the wake of this change I hear many people questioning the Christianity of opposition party. The Samaritan was not a Jew. Not a good person. The Levite and Priest were socially good people. I think a better response, rather than virtue signaling about being associated with the good party, is to personally give to these charities.
