So when He created the earth in 6 days it might not have been 6 days as we know it? Like maybe days have a different length for God? Or maybe the length of days as we know it are as along as they are because He really can create things in that time span? This is hard for me to grasp because time is the most difficult concept for me to understand.
Did God need rest or was he modelling rest for us?
That’s a good point.
In Gen 2:2
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” (Gen 2:2 NIV)
God rested because He has accomplished His work of creation. It’s a great reminder that we, on the other hand, have to rely on Him as the author and finisher of everything. Instead of overworking ourselves (thereby relying on our own strength), we rest IN HIM, the finisher of it all!
