Episode 127 – Luke 15 – God Loves the “Lost”

This is the episode is part 26 of the study of the gospel of Luke. In response to the indignation of the pharisees that Jesus would hang out with sinners, Jesus tells three parables: the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son (the prodigal son). Jesus tells us through these parables that God rejoices when someone who is lost returns to him.

  1. I am trying to get pass Luke 15, how do I get around to the next chapters.

    Thank you,

I really enjoy listening to the podcast. It is relaxing and at the same time I learning more of Luke.

  2. I have been listening to the bible study podcast on Spotify, and when I came across #1 – Luke 15 the lost sheep and the lost coin, it made me wonder about a question when it said that elaborate rules were made upon how to obey the Sabbath, and I was just wondering if there are any good directions on how to better understand that? For I am as of recently trying to get stronger in faith and better understand it. Whereas I have in the past had fun cutting lumber with my family on Sundays or something like that, and I didn’t know if that’s a bad idea? or what your two cents on this topic would be?

    1. Jesus’ point was more that elaborate rules were not the idea. The idea was to free people from toil with a time of rest. Instead, they had turned it into a burden with rules to worry about. Get sleep. Get rest. Make time for worship but also for fun. That’s about it 🙂
