Episode 33 – Numbers 13-14 – Spies and Giants

Part 6 of the story of Moses and Exodus. The people of Israel are on the border of the promise and within sight of their goal, but once again they lose heart and want to go “home”. It took many signs and wonders to get Israel out of Egypt, but the real trick was getting Egypt out of Israel.

  1. Hi Chris !!

    Great website and great podcast.

Thanks so much for your lesson on the Spies and Giants . . .

I am a Sunday School teacher and am about to give my lesson on these two Chapters.

Your insight has been very helpful.

I have just started a website to share my lessons with others .. just something I felt led to do last week.

    http://bible-study-topics.blogspot.com/

It’s not very organized .. just the notes I teach from put down.

Anyway .. I just wanted to thank you for sharing and commend your thoughts on the Bible.

  2. Chris, I liked this particular podcast on Spies and Giants. I agree with your assessment of the Israelites, but I was going to word my summation differently. God provided 10 miracles to the Israelites to give them faith and hope to believe in Him and to erase 200 years of slavery. Now, after bringing them to the doorstep of the promised land, he again wanted their faith in him. These people were without faith and sadly, they all failed – all except Caleb and Joshua. That’s all God really wanted…their faith and to follow His rules to keep themselves out of trouble. What happened was they kept finding ways to get themselves in trouble with God and find new ways to be punished.

On another note, you hit on something very personal for me and for a lot of people: it is easier to be saved from sin by Jesus than it is to be changed by him. Many of us get tempted by our old lives, but it takes a lot of work to be changed by God and make those changes stick.

    Great job on the podcast!
